Alarms

Choosing the right car alarm depends entirely on your vehicle and your lifestyle. A person who works from home and garages their car overnight has very different security needs than someone who regularly parks on the street in a high-risk area.

Beyond peace of mind, a high-quality alarm can often lower your insurance premiums. Many insurers specifically require Thatcham-approved systems—which we supply and fit, complete with the necessary installation certificates.

Should you seek a car alarm on an older vehicle featuring central locking, we offer both supply and fitting services for these. Alternatively, where possible we can install remote central locking systems without integrated alarms for some vehicles.

what alarm would we recommend?

At Enhance we are a specialist car alarm company with over 25 years experience in Vehicle Security.

We only recommend and install tried and tested products.

Depending on your requirements, the security that we would recommend are either Pandora or Scorpion systems.

If you’ve had an Autowatch alarm installed this troubleshooting page can help.

is the alarm thatcham approved?

The Scorpion S37 alarm is a Thatcham approved CAT 2-1 upgrade alarm system, designed to be used on full CAN Bus, semi CAN Bus or conventional wiring systems.

The alarm can be fitted to any compatible new vehicle that requires an alarm.

This system is designed to be easily operated from the vehicles original remote controls without the use of an additional remote control. However, if your vehicle has only one remote control supplied as standard, adding an additional Autowatch remote control will prove more cost effective than buying an original remote control.

If your vehicle isn’t older than circa 2000 the “Can” system we would recommend is a Scorpion S30 Alarm. Which is an analogue alarm wired to each individual aspect the alarm needs to trigger the system, not relying on digital input.

Why should I have a car alarm installed?

Having a car alarm installed offers several important benefits:

Theft Deterrence: Car alarms act as a deterrent to potential thieves. The loud siren or alarm alerts people in the vicinity, making it harder for thieves to steal the vehicle discreetly.

Insurance Benefits: Some insurance companies offer discounts for vehicles equipped with approved alarm systems. Having an alarm can reduce the risk of theft, which insurance providers often reward with lower premiums.

Peace of Mind: Knowing that your vehicle is equipped with an alarm system provides peace of mind. It adds an extra layer of protection to your vehicle, especially in high-risk areas or when parked in unfamiliar places.

Protecting Valuables: A car alarm not only safeguards the vehicle itself but also protects valuable items inside. Many modern alarms can also include sensors for doors, trunks, or hatches, deterring thieves from breaking in to steal belongings.

Compliance with Insurance Requirements: In some cases, insurance policies may mandate the installation of an alarm system for coverage. This is particularly true for certain types of vehicles, such as Range Rovers, or in regions with higher rates of car theft.

Overall, a car alarm serves as a proactive security measure, reducing the likelihood of theft or unauthorized access to your vehicle and its contents.

My car already has a factory fitted alarm, do I need another one?

Most factory fitted car alarms are prone to weaknesses for a number of reasons:

1 – They are all installed in the same way in the same place, allowing the theives to be more familar with the system and what to do to bypass it for each vehicle.

2 – They are linked to your vehicles remote key, so if someone clones your key they are also cloning your security system.

3 – They only include basic features, after market alarms allow more integrations such as tilt sensors, glass break sensors, GPS tracking.

We usually add our after market alarm systems on top of your factory fitted alarm giving an additional layer of protection.  They integrate to be able to work together seamlessly but give you the extra protection if there is a potential theft on your vehicle.
