With cars getting bigger and parking spaces getting smaller it’s no wonder we’re installing Parking Sensors and Reversing Cameras on all types of cars from little Toyota Aygo’s to large Audi Q7’s.
Vehicles seem to be getting longer, wider and taller with pedestrian friendly bonnets and wide, safety conscious roof pillars limiting visibility. By having parking sensors installed it can help take the stress and guesswork out of parking as well as potentially saving you money from expensive repair bills or an insurance claim.
DO I NEED PARKING SENSORS?
Usually once you’ve had either parking sensors or a reversing camera on a vehicle it’s hard to not have them on your next car. They are incredibly reliable and are much cheaper than repairs from hitting walls, posts or other vehicles when trying to park.
Alloy wheels and painted bumpers look very nice until you get a scuff or scratch on them – not only will they look awful but it’ll cost you more than a few pounds to put right.
The basic cost of having a car dent repaired is approximately £100 (depending on the extend of damage). Having parking sensors installed starts from just £140 plus VAT.
is it only cars we can install too?
We don’t just install parking sensors to cars, they can also be installed on vans, lorries, caravans, campervans and any other type of vehicle.
We use Ultrasonic parking sensors that bounce waves off obstacles, using echo time to indicate how far away the obstacles are. You will hear an audible beep which gets closer together as you get closer to the obstacle.
WHAT COLOUR ARE THE SENSORS?
We offer an exact match colour-coding service using your cars paint code to ensure the sensors are as smart and inconspicuous as possible. We use a specialist paint sprayer to paint the sensors for us. We are also able to offer flush mount parking sensors.
Parking sensor displays are optional and include a crescent display, mirror display or dash display. You can also choose whether to have just front parking sensors, rear parking sensors or both front and rear parking sensors installed.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FRONT AND REAR SENSORS?
Other than the price, there are a number of differences between Front and Rear Parking Sensors.
Rear sensors will automatically work when the vehicle is put into ‘reverse’ however if automatic front sensors are installed, they will come on when the vehicle is travelling less than 6 MPH or when something is detected within 1.5m of the vehicle.
Alternatively we can install Front Sensors on a switch, which come in handy when driving through country lanes, or in congested areas such as London.
